About Mehtab Bagh

Mehtab Bagh is a historic Mughal garden located in Agra, on the northern bank of the Yamuna River. It lies directly opposite the famous Taj Mahal and offers a clear, straight view of the monument.

The garden was originally built in the 16th century during the Mughal period. It is believed that Emperor Babur first created a garden here. Later, during the reign of Shah Jahan, the site became an important part of the overall design plan of the Taj Mahal. The garden follows the traditional Mughal Charbagh layout, which divides the space into four equal parts with pathways, lawns, and water channels.

Over time, the garden was damaged by floods and neglect. It was later restored by the Archaeological Survey of India to bring back its original structure. Today, Mehtab Bagh is known for its peaceful atmosphere and its perfect sunset view of the Taj Mahal. It is a quiet place where visitors can relax, walk through green lawns, and enjoy one of the best panoramic views in Agra.
