About Jaswant Thada
Jaswant Thada was built as a royal memorial to honor Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, who ruled the Marwar region during the nineteenth century.
The memorial later became a cremation site for members of the royal family of Jodhpur. Because of this, the complex includes several smaller memorial structures built in later years.
The marble used in the building is polished in a way that allows light to pass through the stone. This gives the structure a soft glow, especially during bright daylight.
Today the site remains one of the important heritage landmarks in Jodhpur and is often visited along with Mehrangarh Fort.
