About Jal Mahal

Jal Mahal was built as a palace within Man Sagar Lake. The design allowed the royal family to relax away from the busy city. The palace combines Rajput architecture with elements of Mughal design.

The building has five levels, but most of the structure remains underwater when the lake is full. Only the upper floor and terrace are visible above the water.

Over time the lake and palace faced damage due to pollution and neglect. Restoration work was later carried out to clean the lake and improve the surrounding area.

Today Jal Mahal remains an important landmark of Jaipur and an attractive place for visitors who want to enjoy a peaceful lake view.
